Zelis Deploys Bots to Free Humans for More Cognitive TasksZelis CTO Kali Durgampudi Discusses the Inevitability of Process Automation
The global pandemic, followed by an economic uncertainty, has led organizations to reduce spending and focus on operational efficiency. However, despite the rightsizing of expenditure, spending for digital transformation has increased as organizations rapidly align workflows, services and business models to changing scenarios. One of the key transformative tech trends is robotic process automation.
Zelis provides a connected platform to bridge the gaps in the health care financial system and align the interests of payers, providers and consumers. Partnering with 775 payers, millions of clinicians and over 100 million health care plan members, the need for automating the claims process was imminent.
Since the commencement of the company's automation process, Zelis has already deployed 60 bots and is on course to take that number to over a hundred in just a few months.
"Automation has helped us tackle a lot of problems including optical character recognition, claims adjudication, coding, NLP-based decisions and more. Associates can now focus on better cognitive functions," says Kali Durgampudi, CTO, Zelis.
In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Durgampudi discusses:
- RPA implementation and its scalability;
- Importance of automation hub to manage bots;
- Need for accurate data to reduce chances of errors automated processes.
With over 20 years of experience, Durgampudi has held leadership positions in Nuance Communications, Greenway Health and Chime Innovation before joining Zelis. He also serves as an honorary member on the board of advisors of Zinnov.
