Rubrik's Anneka Gupta Offers Strategy to Safeguard Against Sophisticated Attacks
Anneka Gupta, chief product officer, Rubrik

Faced with an expanding threat landscape, organizations are increasingly investing in preventative technologies and processes to keep attackers out. Yet, high-profile attacks continue globally. With tools and advanced technologies such as AI at their disposal, cybercriminals are finding newer and sophisticated ways to attack. Relying solely on prevention is not enough. Every organization must develop a cyber recovery and resilience strategy, said Anneka Gupta, chief product officer, Rubrik.

Gupta offered a three-pronged strategy to prepare for cyberattacks: maintaining a copy of data that cannot be compromised, monitoring emerging threats to data and systems, and establishing a recovery and remediation plan."Resilience needs to be built into the fabric of the way that organizations operate. We need resilient technology, people and processes," she said.

"Cyber leaders have to prepare their teams for the inevitable day when their organizations get hit with a cyberattack. They need to ensure that when that moment arises, it has a minimal impact on their overall business and operations," Gupta said. "It's not an easy problem to solve, especially as businesses are global - there's so much data."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Gupta also discussed:

  • Her journey from software engineering to product leadership;
  • Outlook on the cybersecurity landscape;
  • Three pillars to help organizations recover from cyberattacks.

Gupta has more than a decade of product and SaaS expertise, driving revenue growth, navigating expansions to new markets and overseeing diversity. Previously, she was the president and head of product and platforms at LiveRamp, leading product development and go-to-market operations and strategies.
