Over the last six years, Telangana's Emerging Technology Wing (ETW) has implemented over 52 e-governance projects utilizing artificial intelligence, blockchain, drones, robotics and IoT. While some projects faced temporary halts, all 52 endeavors targeted nearly 14 government departments, including agriculture, healthcare, education, transportation and law enforcement.

The state's cloud policy framework, which mandates government departments to transition to the cloud infrastructure, has significantly enhanced operational efficiency and fostered wider technology adoption and outreach. The state is also poised to elevate the use cases of emerging technologies.

"Utilizing our cloud strategy and data-driven approach, we are well positioned to establish frameworks and standards for these technologies. Concurrently, we are also delving into new frontiers, such as digital twins and quantum computing for the new e-governance initiatives,” said Rama Devi Lanka, director - emerging technologies, Department of IT and Communication, Government of Telangana.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Lanka also discussed:

  • ETW's digital progress over the last six years;
  • New initiatives in AI, generative AI and digital twins;
  • Building compute infrastructure for generative AI.

Lanka has been instrumental in formulating and executing policy frameworks to create a conducive ecosystem for the growth of emerging technologies in the state.
