Industrial Refrigeration Pros is a private equity-held enterprise born out of the amalgamation of four different companies. When Tom Sweet joined as CIO and CISO at their Dallas Fort Worth office, basic technology maturity was lacking. There was no help desk ticketing system to resolve IT support issues, and managing the technology overhaul was challenging.

Sweet was tasked with getting buy-in from top management for technology and convincing the board to install a secure cybersecurity architecture. It required effort to explain the concept of infrastructure as code to the decision-makers who were focused on cost savings.

"They don't care about Kubernetes or containers," Sweet says. "All they want to know is how technology can save them money and improve the company’s overall risk profile."
