Capgemini Creates Data Hub for Decisions on Sustainability

API Layer Makes Data Extraction Seamless and Easier for Drawing Insights
Mukesh Jain, CTO, VP and global head of innovation, Capgemini

Organizations are responsible for implementing environmental, social and governance (ESG) regulatory initiatives globally. This is compelling businesses across sectors to work on sustainability goals and is catalyzing change in the corporate mindset. In a report released by McKinsey, it was found that reaching net zero by 2050 could lead to a 60% increase in capital spending on physical assets, compared with current levels.

The constant struggle for CIOs and IT organizations is to provide reliable and complete data, and also bring down the cost of data acquisition to help the business stakeholders take informed decisions on sustainability. The lack of quantifiable data makes the situation worse, impeding progress on sustainability measurement and monitoring. When these challenges are addressed by the right technology, which combines both internal and external data, the path to sustainability becomes more accessible.

Irrespective of the data source, our sustainability data hub encapsulates all sorts of data. An API layer for extraction of the data gets the users the desired data from the right catalog. Built on a subscription model, the delivery of data is automated with the proper user authentication and data privacy norms, says Mukesh Jain, CTO, VP and global head of innovation at Capgemini.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Jain discusses:

  • Importance of data hub;
  • Unique data hub for sustainability-related decision making;
  • Use of API and AI technology for automation and intelligent data extraction.
