The economic downtrend will defer some of the IT modernization projects businesses had planned. However, there will be no slowing when it comes to IT projects that are tied to business outcomes, says Barry Brunsman, global leader, CIO center of excellence, KPMG International.

Brunsman believes there will likely be an increase in investment in data and analytics, as utilizing analytics effectively can provide businesses with a key advantage in navigating tough economic conditions.

"Businesses are going to continue with some of their core digital journeys, focusing on those that enable them to connect with their customers or give competitive advantage," he says.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Brunsman discusses:

  • Technology areas CIOs will be investing in;
  • Top three priorities that should be on every CIO's agenda;
  • Skills CIOs need to navigate the economic slowdown in 2023.

Brunsman has more than 34 years of experience across industry sectors in the Americas, Europe and Asia. In addition to his CoE responsibilities, he also leads the U.S. CIO advisory healthcare team. Over the last 20 years, Brunsman has primarily focused on technology strategy and IT operating model design and implementation.
